ICT as Communicative tool
I found that ICT (information and communication technology) is an effective means of communication that is changing the manner in which people communicate, unlike when letters, screaming, and simple phones were the only means of contact. ICT allows for a two-way process of communication that is quicker, simpler, and more convenient via a myriad of applications, technologies, and tools like social media, email, chat rooms, blogs, and virtual meeting tools. These tools have revolutionized how we interact. Asynchronous communication, in which parties can send and receive messages at their own pace, e.g., through emails, differs from synchronous communication, which is done in real time like video calls. Both of these have advantages as well as disadvantages like low personal interaction in asynchronous communication and network problems and lack of motivation in synchronous communication.
Reflecting on this, I believe that one should focus on resolving technological problems well and to become familiar with using a range of ICT tools. Learning how to utilize these tools to cater to various learning needs is essential, especially in the current rapidly evolving education sector. Furthermore, it is also important to keep students actively involved in learning during synchronous sessions so that flexible and real-time communication strategies are synchronized to accommodate diverse learning styles.
I will utilize ICT technology in my future classroom as an educator to boost student engagement, deepen group works, and offer immediate feedback. I will utilize asynchronous tools like blogs and discussion boards for reflective learning and synchronous tools like live web classes to foster live responses from students. I will also educate students on proper online communication and online citizenship. With the inclusion of these tools and methods in my teaching, I will be able to create an active, dynamic, and inclusive learning environment that meets the diverse needs of all learners, and every student will be supported and motivated to reach their full potential.
