Reflection on ICT as a situating tool

The session on"ICT as a Situating Tool" opened my eyes to how digital technology can be used to create real-life, immersive learning environments for students. I understood that situating tools are ICT instruments that allow learners to learn from simulated real-life experiences, virtual environments, and interactive sessions. These instruments assist learners in problem-solving and critical thinking by placing them in actual contexts rather than just memorizing. The session made me realize the power ICT has in bridging learning to actual life and making it more engaging. Among the key learning of this session was the way ICT as a situating tool can be utilized effectively in the instruction of mathematics. Students usually struggle with abstract math concepts, but ICT can help close the gap by showing concepts more visually and interactively. For example, applications like GeoGebra can provide students with the facility to play around with numbers, graph, and shapes, so th...

Google Docs as a co-construction tool allows students to collaborate in real time or asynchronously. They can comment, edit, and divide tasks using tabs or sections, making group work more flexible. This promotes teamwork without needing to be physically together or working at the same time, enhancing productivity and learning

one of my friend is video calling her mother at Bumthang through a smartphone, showing how communication has evolved with technology. In the past, people relied on letters or simple phone calls. Today, ICT tools like video calls allow face-to-face conversations instantly, no matter the distance, making communication more personal, faster, and more convenient.

In this pucture we can see two student reading online news, reflecting how technology has changed access to information. In the past, people waited for newspapers or for BBS to air news on TV. Today, with improved technology, news is available anytime online, making it quicker and easier to stay informed and connected.

ICT as Communicative tool

I found that ICT (information and communication technology) is an effective means of communication that is changing the manner in which people communicate, unlike when letters, screaming, and simple phones were the only means of contact. ICT allows for a two-way process of communication that is quicker, simpler, and more convenient via a myriad of applications, technologies, and tools like social media, email, chat rooms, blogs, and virtual meeting tools. These tools have revolutionized how we interact. Asynchronous communication, in which parties can send and receive messages at their own pace, e.g., through emails, differs from synchronous communication, which is done in real time like video calls. Both of these have advantages as well as disadvantages like low personal interaction in asynchronous communication and network problems and lack of motivation in synchronous communication. Reflecting on this, I believe that one should focus on resolving technological problems well and to b...

ICT as an informative tool

ICT as a communication medium incorporates the utilization of electronic formats like text, graphics, audio, images, and video to convey significant amounts of information to learners. The tools provide learners with access to extensive resources on the internet and various electronic media, fostering curiosity and independent learning. I believe that ICT encourages students to engage in critical thinking and take an active role in their learning, rather than depending solely on the teacher for information. As a student, I have discovered that viewing videos and animations enhances learning and makes it simpler to understand. For instance, viewing a science video on volcanic eruptions clarified the process more effectively than studying from a textbook. Images and illustrations aid in memory retention. A phrase that readily comes to mind is, "images convey more than words," which indeed holds true when employing visuals to illustrate ideas in the classroom. As an aspiring e...
